The Women’s Association of Punta Morales is seeking funds to start a bakery. AstilleroVerde has provided support to the Women’s Association throughout the process of applying for funds, and to date $1,200 has been awarded to the project, set to be donated in July 2020. Once funds are received, AstilleroVerde will continue to provide guidance and support, and the Women’s Association of Punta Morales will take full responsibility for managing the proposed business plan. The ladies wish to overcome difficult situations and give meaningful work to many women in the area, promoting gender equality through this endeavor. The direct beneficiaries would be the women who work at the bakery and their families. Each of the women involved has a personal, entrepreneurial dream which would support their families and enhance the community. When the initial ladies have sufficient savings to start their own small businesses, additional jobs will be created as more ladies may work at the bakery, and eventually in the new small businesses. As there are very few successful small businesses in Punta Morales, the initiative of these ladies has the potential to have measurable positive impact in the community. In total they are seeking $8,000.
