OUR STORY
AstilleroVerde, a non-profit registered in 2018, carries out the environmental and social responsibilities of SAILCARGO INC.. The aim is not just to compensate for the timber used in the sustainable construction of their zero emission, sailing vessels, but to connect with the local coastal community and pioneer a truly circular economy.
Since then, the TreesForSeas campaigns have put thousands of saplings into the ground each rainy season, the team have run monthly community outreach programmes, and the connection with the community continues to grow.
And this just the the beginning.

OUR SHIPYARD HEADQUARTERS
AstilleroVerde headquarters is located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in a small town called Punta Morales. The shipyard blends into the Gulf of Nicoya and embodies everything we stand for.
It contains low-impact offices and workshops built by the team from local and ethically sourced materials. It contains all the infrastructure needed to build Ceiba, the first vessel of SAILCARGO INC.
As the only regenerative shipyard in the world, a zero-waste philosophy, commitment to sustainable agriculture, and respect for the nature surrounding us is fundamental to out operations.
SUPPORT US
As a non-profit association, we rely entirely on donations to implement, and monitor, our community projects. If you are in a position to support us on this mission, you will be able to watch your money directly impact our one-of-a-kind shipyard, educational programs, reforestation campaigns and overall development of the coastal communitiy that surrounds us.
